  2. About Dakota Automation

In 1999, a small group of experienced engineers pooled their resources and talents to launch Dakota Automation. Their goal - to provide high quality, expertly designed, cost competitive automated solutions in a timely manner. The company continues to achieve this goal year after year with the original engineering group still active within the company.

In 2001, Dakota Automation constructed a new production facility in Watertown's industrial park. The building has been expanded three times to meet growing demands, accommodate new markets and increase machine shop capacity. Dakota Automation has complete production capabilities with over 40,000 square feet of manufacturing space and the latest machining, welding and assembly technology. The facility is clean, modern and well equipped to handle all types of projects.

Dakota Automation's design engineers use CAD modeling from concept to manufacture.

The programmers at Dakota Automation are experienced with a wide range of PLC brands and other programming and control methods.

Dakota Automation is a UL508 certified panel shop. This means the machine controls carry the UL sticker and can be shipped anywhere in the U.S.

Dakota Automation has the floor space to tackle large material handling jobs.

The engineers at Dakota Automation are skilled at assembly and inspection projects.

Dakota Automation has a wide variety of machining centers operated by skilled and experienced machinists. Check out our solutions page for further details on their outsource work.

  4. About Dakota Automation

The success of your automation project starts with complete and accurate information. Complete and accurate information allows Dakota Automation to quote, and then design, a system that satisfies your needs.

It is ideal to draft a full specification that describes your project. This specification should include a written description of the process at hand, a full print package for all related components and assemblies, as well as all the details of the project.

The process of creating a specification is useful not only in terms of gathering information, but it also provides an opportunity to fully think through the project requirements. This may uncover some information that could otherwise be missed. It also ensures that you fully define your expectations, which is critical to project success.
